The Next Subaru Without a Manual Gearbox?
The rumor swells for several weeks through various automotive blogs and social networks in general, Subaru no longer offer models with a manual gearbox! The Japanese brand has provided an answer to all fans of this type of transmission.
Manual Transmission Will Remain Available at Subaru
Subaru has not decided to put aside the manual gearbox. It will still be offered on the performance models of the brand that are the Subaru WRX and the Subaru WRX STI.
It will unfortunately not be available soon on new models such as the 2020 Subaru Forester.
Why Ruling out the Manual Transmission?
The removal of the manual gearbox is due to several factors.
At first, sales in North America of this type of transmission remain marginal. Between the cultural disaffection for the manual gearbox, and the progress made in terms of automatic gearbox / transmission, it becomes difficult to struggle.
In addition, rumours were that the manufacturer wanted to withdraw the manual transmission for safety reasons. According to some studies, driving with a manual rather than an automatic gearbox would be more dangerous. Making safety an essential element for its vehicles, the Japanese manufacturer is ready to sacrifice the manual transmission on most of its models and offer the powerful Subaru CVT transmission.
The Future WRX and WRX STI 2020
Subaru will offer a manual version of its new WRX and WRX STI for the new models expected to arrive in two years in 2020.
These models should be based on the concepts Viziv and Viziv performance. More aggressive than the current versions, they present new lines that let imagine a bright future for these two legends.
