The first global all-electric SUV from Subaru
A greener vision for the future
Introducing the 2023 Subaru Solterra, the groundbreaking SUV that blends all-electric efficiency with legendary Subaru design and engineering for the first time. In developing the Solterra, the first Subaru battery-electric vehicle (BEV) to be launched globally, the engineers set out to create a fun and practical SUV that would represent a cornerstone for the future.
Above all that, though, the Solterra was designed to stay true to the Subaru brand values—it was engineered to create an authentic Subaru driving experience from start to finish. This means: genuine go-anywhere capability, real-world versatility, and the enjoyment and peace of mind Subaru drivers around the world have come to expect. The 2023 Subaru Solterra delivers all of that and more, plus the sweet and silent benefits of all-electric motoring.
Versatility, Capability and Eco-Credibility
The Solterra may be an all-electric Subaru, but it remains a Subaru to the core. Case in point: The legendary Subaru Symmetrical Full-Time AWD system which, here, sees one electric motor driving the front wheels and another powering the rear wheels. This configuration gives the Solterra superior capability, handling, traction and control in the trickiest of driving conditions. Also standard is the X-MODE® system with Hill Ascent and Descent Assist, which helps maintain the proper traction level to the terrain conditions for more stability and control, generating increased confidence. For even more versatility, the Solterra features 210 mm of ground clearance and short overhangs to help clear minor obstacles.
Protects You, Protects the Environment
Specifically engineered for all-electric vehicles, the new e-Subaru Global Platform is the most rigid platform we’ve ever built, with strategically placed crumple zones and a reinforced structure for confidence-inspiring crash protection. In the event of a collision, this platform directs the impact energy away from the passenger compartment and absorbs it, protecting all occupants and defending the critical components of the powertrain.
With respect to active safety systems, the Solterra is equally advanced. Standard equipment includes next-generation Subaru EyeSight® Driver-Assist Technology, which monitors traffic movement, optimizes cruise control, warns you when you’re veering outside your lane and even brings the vehicle to a full stop automatically through the Pre-Collision Braking system. Other advanced safety systems—such as Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind-Spot Detection, Reverse Automatic Braking and a 360-degree surround-view camera system—are also available.
Quality Subaru Engineering
The 2023 Solterra may be the first battery electric vehicle of its kind, but it’s still a Subaru at its heart. You can trust a Subaru vehicle with many kilometres of adventure – over 97% of Subaru vehicles sold in Canada over the last 10 years are still on the road today1.

Advanced Aerodynamics
All parts of the 2023 Solterra, from front to rear, are part of an evolution in vehicle engineering. Aside from being a unique design feature, the split-design rear spoilers work together with the full underbody tray to manage the airflow and provide quiet, efficient, and safe driving in all weather and road conditions.
A Genuine Subaru, Only Greener
The Subaru electric powertrain delivers robust on-demand torque at all engine speeds and boosts environmental performance at the same time. Other features have been engineered to electrify your time behind the wheel, including a sport mode and paddle shifters that adjust the regenerative braking system to create maximum efficiency.
This all-electric powertrain will have a competitive range and a high-capacity battery pack that can be recharged in a variety of convenient ways. The Solterra can be plugged into any standard 120V outlet for Level 1 charging, while an available Level 2 charger can be installed at your home or office for faster recharging. This innovative SUV can also be plugged into a Level 3 DC fast charging station, which delivers up to 80% charge in less than an hour. Of course, all of these features allow you to enjoy the uncommon Subaru driving experience while producing zero tailpipe emissions.
Comfort and Convenience Without Compromise
